My feelings on New Year’s resolutions are as follows: You spend one month feeling great about yourself for quitting smoking, chocolate or, in my case, a raging mashed potato addiction, then you spend the next 11 months kicking yourself for not having the will power to stick to it. So this year I opted for a New Year’s resolution I knew I’d keep: spend more time with friends and family. So when my bestie asked if I wanted to tag along on a business trip to Orlando for a week it was a no-brainer. With just a couple of days to prep, I managed to get the time off work and hopped on a plane to Orlando International Airport to meet up with my friend. Orlando’s not my favorite place in the world, nor is the state of Florida for that matter, but when you’re with good people, good times will be had. We stayed in a lovely suite at the Westin Imagine across the street from the convention center where my friend spent most of her days; I spent mine ordering room service and watching telenovelas. During the evenings we caught up over good food and fine wine (or vodka tonics and dirty martinis). We found time to visit Universal Studios, where we rode The Incredible Hulk roller coaster, twice! Before I knew it, it was time to come home…All in all, a great way to start the New Year.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I hung out with Coco the alligator at the tourism convention one day! She was part of Wild Florida Airboat’s booth and even though she looked small, Coco was really heavy.
