Paris was fabulous! I stayed in an absolute dump of a hostel, but still managed to enjoy myself! Don’t get me wrong, the trip had its downfalls: I spilled a bottle of red wine all over my brown suede boots, which were the only shoes I brought, so I had to buy new boots, which set me back 100 euros ($150 US). I accidentally left my credit card at a bar and didn’t realize it until I was at the subway station trying to go to the airport. The hostel´s janitor made gross inappropriate advances at me and Paris is so expensive I´m pretty much broke now, but aside from all that I had a blast & met some really great people.
When I was stranded at the JFK Airport in New York a month ago, I made friends with a Frenchman who had also missed his flight. He told me to call him if I ever came to Paris. I took him up on his offer and he was kind enough to take me out to a fancy French lunch on the Champs-Élysées. I would have taken a picture, but it was a classy establishment, I had to pretend like I had home training. Speaking of classy, check out the bathroom in one of the bars I went to (photo above).
I didn’t get a chance to try escargot, but I did eat an authentic crepe made by a street vendor and came to the conclusion that crepes are the Parisian dirty dog (Dirty dogs are those tasty bacon wrapped hot dogs that vendors sell on the streets of LA after the clubs).
